Engineering
&
Computing

Saturday 28th February 2009 to be held at the

University of Cambridge

For students intending to study Engineering and Computing/IT at Universities across the country

Universities now offer numerous courses relating to these two immensely studied disciplines. Each will be studied in turn, and as will be seen, the two overlap in numerous and even combine in Computer Engineering.

Careers in Engineering and Computing are both practical and prosperous, with numerous opportunities in endless fields, whether it be designing aerodynamic technology for a Formula 1 team, or engineering a new material for space shuttles.

Many universities offer ‘years in industry’ where you spend the 3rd year of a four-year degree working in the related field, with certain universities even offering placements with leading Formula 1 teams. This year can often be spent abroad where you could work on language skills making you an even stronger candidate for when you enter the job market.

Since very specific A-levels are required, early insight into the degree will prove to be indispensable, so necessary choices can be made along the way to ensure entry onto such a degree programme.

The subjects covered will be as follows:

  • Engineering (General)
  • Aeronautical Engineering
  • Automotive Engineering
  • Chemical Engineering
  • Computer and Electrical Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Computer Science
  • Information Technology
  • Information Management

Information on foundation courses leading into the above disciplines for those who have selected Arts A-levels but are considering a science/engineering based degree.

This course is an ideal opportunity to meet students, both current and prospective, and several lectures, thus giving a clear insight into student life and what these degrees entail, both at university and beyond.
